  1. yes. you can have like 3oz. of liquid per container.  You just have to put it all in ziploc bags.  Contacts are fine because they haven't been opened and there is usually just a little bit of solution in the container.  But yea, you can have 3oz. of stuff.  this is from their website:::

    Size and Number of Pieces

FAA security measures limit customers on all AA flights to one carry-on bag plus one personal item.

All carry-on pieces, including laptops, must fit either underneath the seat in front of you or in an overhead bin.

The one carry-on bag must fit in an overhead compartment or under the seat. It should not exceed 45 linear inches (length + width + height) or weigh more than 40 lbs/18 kgs.

Carry-on items which appear too large or irregularly shaped to fit under a seat, in an overhead compartment, or in a closet will not be accepted as carry-on baggage and will need to be checked.

At times, additional limits may be placed on carry-on baggage based on the main cabin stowage capacity of specific aircraft.

These limits may be imposed after the boarding process has begun.

Some carry-on baggage may be stowed in a cargo compartment on selected American Eagle aircraft.

At some airports, carry-on baggage may be more restricted. All other luggage must be checked at curbside or at the ticket counter.

Passengers exceeding the carry-on limit will not be allowed through the security checkpoint.

All portable electronic devices, including laptops, must remain off during taxi, takeoff, approach and landing until we arrive at the gate and the seat belt sign is turned off.

Remember: Carry-on items are counted in the free baggage allowance. Please see Dimensions, Weight, and Number of Pieces.

For a list of articles which may not be carried on board, please see Restricted Articles.

    Personal Items

    Personal items include the following:

    Purse

    Briefcase

    Laptop

    Small book-bag style backpack

Other similar items that do not exceed 36 linear inches (length + width + height) will be allowed such as a small tote bag or shoulder bag.

Additional items that will be allowed above and beyond the restrictions listed above include:

    Outer garments such as coats/wraps/hats

Approved safety seat for lap or ticketed child

Umbrella stroller for lap or ticketed child

Diaper bag for lap or ticketed child

    Book or newspaper

Small bag of food that is consumable

Assistive devices for passengers such as wheelchairs, walkers and CPAP machines

Therapeutic oxygen provided by the airline

A pet kennel or container that is taken in the cabin counts as either your personal item or your one carry-on bag - the cabin pet fee still applies. See www.aa.com/pets for information on sizes of containers allowed and applicable charges.

Infant Seat or Child Restraint Devices

If you did not purchase a seat for your child (under two years of age):

An approved child safety seat can be carried on board.

The device cannot be used in a seat unless there is an unoccupied seat available next to the adult traveling.

If an unoccupied, adjoining seat is not available, the gate agent will check the infant seat/child restraint device to your final destination. Please check with the gate agent for further details.

You may want to consider checking the infant seat/child restraint device at the ticket counter. However, American is not responsible for damage to infant/child restraint devices and loss/damage of any items attached to the device, whether these items are checked at the ticket counter or the gate. Infant/child restraint devices include, but are not limited to, strollers and car seats.

For taxi, takeoff, landing, during turbulence, or when the Fasten Seatbelt sign is on, American accepts only infant seats/child restraint devices that are certified for use in aircraft.

FAA Non-Approved Infant Seat/Child Restraint Devices

The following may not be used when an infant seat/child restraint device is required:

Any device without an approval label

Booster seats with no approval label or shoulder harness

    Vest and/or harness-type devices

Belt extensions that attach to the parent or the parent's restraint

Any device that positions a child on the lap or chest of an adult

FAA Approved Infant Seat/Child Restraint Device Seat Locations:

May face toward the front or rear of the plane in accordance with instructions on child seat label

May not occupy an exit seat or the row in front of or behind an exit seat

May not occupy the space between a customer and an aisle

Electronic Devices, Medical Devices, Musical Instruments

Certain devices used on board the aircraft, both on the ground and in-flight, may radiate electronic pulses affecting the aircraft navigational or communications equipment. While electronic disruptions in the cockpit are rare, they simply cannot be tolerated at any time.

Devices That Cannot Be Used on Board

Radios - AM, FM, VHF, battery or cord operated TV sets, TV cameras

Electronic games or toys with remote control, except those installed on the aircraft

    Cordless computer mouse

    Portable Global Positioning System (G.P.S.)

    Medical Devices

Hearing aids, heart pacemakers, or other approved medical devices are accepted during all phases of flight. If a passenger must travel with oxygen due to medical necessity, a 48-hour notice is required. You will have the option to indicate a request for special assistance when making your reservation on AA.com. See Special Service Requests in our Reservations FAQ for more information.

    Musical Instruments

Small musical instruments may be carried on-board the aircraft providing they meet existing carry-on size requirements and fit in the overhead bin or under the seat in front of you. Case dimensions may not exceed 45 linear inches (width+length+height), except for guitars which may be brought on board only if they can be safely stowed in an overhead bin or approved stowage location in the cabin. The instrument is considered the passenger's one allowed carry-on bag. A personal item is allowed in addition to the instrument.

  2. I believe as long as it is in it's original bottle, it should be fine. I just went to Italy and I lost my cologne in Germany, sue to it being in a glass bottle in a tin box, but I believe if the item is in a cosmetic bag in your carry-on, it should not cause a problem, as I have recently witnessed with my friends having contacts on as well.

  3. I know you can pack contacts.  The makeup would have to be less than 5oz.  You have to put everything liquid in a one gallon zip lock bag
