Question:

Can I paint a radiator with matt emulsion?

I am painting my living room and would like the radiator to blend in.

Will it be ok to paint it with the same emulsion as I'm using for the walls, or do I need a special paint?

  1. Don't think that will work too well Cymraes

Emulsion washes off when wiped and goes powdery and discolours when hot. Won't do any harm to try though - you can always paint it over again

  2. No you will need special paint that is specifically for radiators

  3. All my radiators blend in with my walls.  I buy a similar colour and shade of satin paint to my emulsion paint.  I have had no problems whatsoever and my radiators get very, very hot.  I have tried hammerite radiator paint and found it difficult to apply as it was very thick and I could not get a smooth look like I do with the satin paint.  Good Luck!

  4. u need special paint, it will melt off otherwise

  5. I used one of those paint anything paints. Emulsion would go flaky.

  6. You need special metal paint, otherwise emulsion will melt off.

  7. You can buy Radiator Enamel..Bear in mind that each coat reduces the efficiency of the radiator ..British Gas survey apparently..

  8. Special! Special! Special! Special!

  9. no emulsion will peel off i always use gloss paint and it works a treat

  10. Gloss is fine babes x I use gloss for my radiators :)

  11. You need a radiator paint such as Hammer*te

  12. Emulsion won't do it will peel off...I think you have to have some sort of oil base paint :-)

  13. I would go with Hurf, I know he knows what he's talking about.
