Question:

Can I pay a Sagarmatha National Park (Everest)entrance fee in Monju or must it be paid in Kathmandu/Thamel?

Lonely Planet says it must be paid in Thamel but i have heard it can be paid at the Park entrance in Monju (North of Namchee)

  1. I completely deny what MK had said. There is no commission in the National Park fee and no company can claim extra money for it. If anyone does you can report it to the Tourist Police. If you pay in the city area it will be cheaper for you.. as there are some extra charges in the Rural area like Monju. Believe it or not, ACAP fees if paid in Kathmandu or Pokhara is.. near about $15-17 according to bank rate however if you pay in Ghandruk then it will cost you $ 30-32

    So i recommend you to pay the park fees in the city rather than in Monju. The biggest proof of the things i'm saying is.. that i'm a Promotion manager in A1 Excursion Tours and Travels

  3. yes, you can pay. Actually the best place to pay fee is at Monju (at entrance). If you pay at Thamel, that means you are paying through travel agent who might take some commission with you which in turn, may be expensive that at entrance gate. However, if you are traveling in group or with guide provided by such travel agents, it is better to pay at their office.
