I live in NY and my employer offers a FSA plan. They pay 100% of my coverage, but that doesn't extend to my husband. Can I pay his health insurance from the money I allocate into my FSA?

  1. Just write a check or set up payment on line to have the money deducted every month

  2. Zarnev is correct about the not being able to pay your husband's premiums but he is mistaken you CAN use the FSA to pay your husbands co-pays and any other qualified medical expenses. This rule even extends to your husband and children even if they are not covered by the same health plan or any health plan. This is also the same rule for HSA qualified expenses.

Another nice feature of the FSA is that You can withdraw funds from the account to pay qualified medical expenses even if you have not yet to placed the funds in the account. This means you can be reimbursed for medical expenses with funds that have not even been deducted from your paycheck.

  3. I don't think you can pay the premiums from there.

  4. No, you cannot pay his premiums nor his co-pays. Here is the IRS publication: http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/p969.pdf
