Can I pay with US dollars in the Netherlands?

I went to other third world countries and it was fine, but can I use them in Holland?????? Help plz!!!

  1. The Netherlands is hardly a third world country.  Generally the people speak better English than most people in the U.S, but they want paid in Euros.

    Euros only.

  3. No sorry but you can only use Euro's in the Netherlands.  

    Within the airports there may be some stores that accept US $'s (or British pounds for you) but this is the exception (and then the exchange rate will not be good either)

    So it is best to exchange a small amount of $'s to €'s, and then bring your credit card and/or ATM card

    One word of warning though, if you are used to 3rd world economies and this is the maximum budget you can extend to for a vacation, then you may find it very expensive given the situation of the British & US ecomomies and the consequential dramatic currency slide against the €.
