  1. Good question.  The answer is NO.  On a given night Lewis would have a good chance to beat Anyone.  There are a FEW others who could do certain things  "On a given night".

If Evander, could tough it out with Lewis so could Joe Louis.  He was a bit smaller than the 215s but not by much.  However, Lennox could also KO Joe as well.  Ali and Holmes are the only other ones who would have a chance to beat Lewis.

Certainly NO ONE before Joe Louis could beat Lewis.  Lennox could KO Joe.  Or he could score a few knockdowns early and get KO'd late.  It's a close one that could go either way.

Holmes would have the best chance of defeating Lewis.  Ali has a slight edge over Holmes because he had the one style Holmes would have had trouble against.  He just wouldn't stand still long enough to allow Larry to do what he does best.   However, anyone Ali could beat, Holmes could beat easier and more thoroughly.  Larry was quite rugged and could rough it up with the best of them when he had to.

Lennox would give Ali all kinds of trouble.  Ernie Terrell was 6'5" also.  However,  he was lanky and weighed the same as Ali.  Lennox is much stronger than Terrell ever was.

Holmes and Ali would have a slight advantage, about 60% chance of winning.  Joe Louis would be a "pick-em".  I give Louis a slight advantage to win.  Besides Holmes, Ali and Louis,  Forman has the best "puncher's chance".  Young Tyson could score an early KO but there are too many ways Lennox could prevent it.

No one else has a good chance of scoring the win.  Sonny's too slow and Lennox would KO him before he could reach the 6th round.  He would have a field day against the rest before Liston.  This includes Dempsey and Tunney.

  2. Yeah a peak Lewis could beat anyone in the history of boxing but only on the right night, and you could say that about alot of other fighters too. Most people rate Ali as the best Heavyweight of all time but he lost to Leon Spinks, Norton etc. If they could beat Ali then Lewis surely could also, im not saying Lewis was better than Ali he wasent, but in heavyweight boxing anything can happen on the night not always the most talented boxer wins, alot of different factors can swing a fight, good question.

  3. I'm sure he could have beaten somebody but he couldn't have beaten anybody. He's probably in the top 20 heavyweights but that's it.

  4. Lennox would have a decent shot at beating anyone outside of a prime Ali in the mid 60s when he was so fast Lennox wouldnt have been able to catch him.  The 70s version of Ali would have been routed by a prime Lennox but thats not a fair gauge of what the best Ali was.

  5. No way. Lennox was real good, but not the best. You can't have two Ko defeats against mediocre talent (Rahman & McCall) and lay claim to unbeatable.

  6. His chin is his downfall. Yahoo readers pick him at #7 at all time greats.

  7. He is a top 10 heavy weight champion of all time. If you have to look at all the true undisputed heavy weight champs, who could beat lennox in their prime. he has never lost a fight by dec. only by knockout. getting hit with the right shot doesn't make you less of a champion. how many other champions can claim they have never been out boxed only knocked out, and then came back and avenged both losses with a knockout(except for mccall, TKO). 6'5 240lbs and had actually boxing ability for most situations. his only real challenged would have been maybe larry holmes, or evander in his prime. ali would have given him a run but i don't think he would have been able to decision him. tyson never would beat him unless he could knock him out early, and we are not going to include anyone form 1900-1962 because lets be honest they were too small to be considered heavy weights

  8. With his size, power, and brains, YES, a peak Lennox could have beaten anyone on a given night.
