Question:

Can I permanently block private calls?

Someone called repeatedly after 11 p.m. last night and said nothing. Just hung up. Our caller ID said "Private." I ended up taking the phone off the hook out of frustration. Is there any way I can BLOCK these calls from now on? Thanks.

  1. If its a landline, check with your phone service provider.  Ive called people before and blocked my number and I received a message saying "This user does not accept anonymous calls"  or something of that nature.

  2. call your provider. I have comcast and I have it blocked and it was really easy. I know verizon does it also. Just call and tell them you do not want calls coming in from blocked numbers or unknown numbers. That will also make telemarketing calls go down...

  3. dont think so.

  4. I would call your service provider. If it's a landline I think it's possible for everyone to. I have Optimum Voice and theres an option to do it yourself online without having to call, but I don't know if your phone service provider does that, so I would call.

  5. Normally you can only block calls from known numbers, but you should contact your phone company and ask.

However, you may not want to block private calls. If you apply for a job, for example, an employer will usually call you from a private number.
