I have a small, maybe 5 inch tall fairy castle cactus in a pot. Would it live if I planted it outside in my yard? I live in New Jersey.

  1. nope. sorry but fairy castle cactuc not only need good draining, but are tropical and will die if temps are lower than freezing.

if you want a out door cactus the pink lace cactus it great. you can keep it in a pot outside fill the pot with sand. in the winter keep the pot near your house and in the spring and summer you get lage pink blooms that are on top of the cactus.

max height is about one foot more likely 6 to 8 inches

  2. No it might die because of all the rain we get here. Maybe if you have it in a pot outside you might be OK, and make sure it's covered so rain water doesn't get in. Hope that helps!

  3. No, the only cactus that will survive in NJ is the prickly pear.  The best thing is to leave it in a container and bring it inside before the frost.

  4. no cold will kill it

i sent a friend one i live in NM he lives in NJ

    it died in winter

  5. The change of environment all of a sudden might possibly kill it; It was inside all its life and suddenly outside in the wind and cold in the winter, it would definitely die in the winter.
