I have been in many many many shows and I sing beautifully. I have been training ALOT for about 2 years. I am a very good opera singer and I can sing Musical Theater. It has been my dream to play Christine in The Phantom of the Opera. I am trying out next month. Do you think I could get the role?

  1. How's your dancing? Do you have a sustained high E?  What level of production are you auditioning for?  If 2 years ALL the singing/dancing experience you have, or do you mean you have been training specifically for this audition for 2 years?  I can't really tell you anything unless I hear/see you.  If you can upload a video (or at least a sound clip) on youtube or something, then maybe we can give you more specific pointers?  Good Luck! :-)

  2. Only time will tell.

  3. Can you act?  I have met many great opera singers who, to be quite honest, can't really act.  You can get away with it in opera, but not in musical theatre.  Also, you may sing beautifully, but can you hit a top E? Do you have sufficient vocal strength to sing  8 shows a week?  I assume you're auditioning for a professional production, as amateur rights haven't been released, so eight shows a week is pretty standard.  Two years is not an awful lot of training, you will be up against people who have been training extensively since childhood...yes, it's possible, but without knowing who you are up against it's impossible to know if you will get it or not.

  4. Well, I'm sure you could make it on your voice if it's as good as you say it is. Ask your voice teacher to help you with an audition song and with some songs in "PotO."

Another question you might want to ask, though, is: "Is my acting ability good enough?" Sure, the voice to play Christine is EXTREMELY!! important, but she does go through MANY emotions during the show! Make sure you'll be able to nail both parts of the audition!

  5. ........2 years? that isn't much experience.

it's great that you have a passion for it, but no one can just say, "yes, you'll make it"

only the audition will tell. there are plenty of girls out there that can sing well, and want this same part, but only one preson can get it at a time. you'll just have to see how it goes.

they might want someone with more experience, and who is older.
