  1. We use NTSC region 1 for our format. Your PAL disc is more than likely region 2 which will not play in your Sony. There are hacks which will make your player region free. But a NTSC player can not play a  PAL disc. Even if you could you would need a PAL tv as well. Try the site below if you still want to get the unlock code for all region playback. But like I said it WILL NOT make it a PAL compatible player.  If you REALLY want to watch this dvd, you can go this route and download some software that will allow you to convert the PAL into NTSC. It is an involved process, but may be worth it to you. The first site is for the region hack and the second is for the conversion info. Hope that helped.

  2. The PAL and NTSC output format is controlled by the equipment and not the DVD.  Some of the newer equipment will allow a selection between PAL and NTSC output, such as what you see on digital cameras nowadays.  The European DVD has what is called a Region Code which is supposed to limit it to DVD Players with the same Region Code, but many of the equipment manufacturers elected not to enforce the Region Code implementation.  In short, if your DVD Player was not one of the first ones produced you will likely be able to play the European DVD on a US DVD Player.  The only real way to know if it is possible is to try it and see as the manufacturers did not provide documentation as to whether or not Region Code is in place or not.
