Hey,

I'm looking at getting a new playstation 3 or xbox 360, and I'm wondering if it could play through my iMAC, so I don't have to buy a TV. Here's the link, hit gallery, and then it's the 3rd picture. Are any of these inputs right for hooking either of these systems up?

  1. no sorry you can't use an imac. to play ps3 or xbox on a monitor you need a hdmi input or a converter box i suggest you buy a standard pc with a normal monitor and the converter box or a hdmi compatible monitor try looking at these links.

  2. The iMac doesn't have a TV tuner built in - the port on the back is Mini-dvi for video OUT not in.

There are a variety of TV input solutions out there for the Mac, but much like a great deal of PC TV tuner solutions, they suffer a slight lag in displaying the video. This offsets your controller actions from the action you see on the screen - it's a bit like playing underwater.

Long story short: stick to a TV for gaming.

  3. you cant unless it has a hdmi input
