I'd like to learn to play the accordion. I'm interested in polka, norteño, and zydeco. It have the impression that a diatonic button G/C/F would be fine for the latter two, but would I be able to play polkas on this kind of accordion? It seems that the most popular type of accordion for polkas is very different.

  1. Sure it can be done. Once you're familiar with the instrument, it won't be that hard. When you're just starting out, you mat be a little discouraged because the way a lot of polka music is arranged, you need a chromatic accordion. But if you stick with it and get to know how to play a diatonic well, you'll be able to adjust the music to suit your instrument.

The G/C/F would be a good choice for all three.

  2. yea u could.. HARD tho. if u practiced and worked w/ it enough, i bet u could do it! good luck (=
