I have been told that I need to go to A&M as an undergraduate in order to get into Vet School. I play softball and if I can get on a scholarship somewhere then I need to do that for financial reasons. Is that gonna set me back? Do I need to rethink my plan?

  1. It doesn't matter where you go for undergrad in order to get into graduate school. With vet school, you need to make sure you have all the pre-requisite classes taken care of (bio, chem, physics, etc) and that you have good grades. Softball isn't a reason to hold you back, and if it can give you a scholarship, then by all means do it!

  2. The school does not get you into vet school. The student does. You want to just make sure that any school you go to has a pre-vet program, or resources to help navigate you through the admissions process. There are fewer than 30 vet schools in the country, so competition is very fierce. You may also want to ask what percentage of students from the school who apply to vet school actually get in.

    Good luck.
