Can I playback video recorded on my sony dvd handycam through my imac?

If your sony has a firewire (IEEE 1394) port - or possibly a USB 2.0 port, you should be able to plug it directly into the IMac and it should recognize the device, open the Video capture/edit program and you should be able to follow the bouncing ball (metaphorically speaking that is)! If it does not recognize the device and wants a driver, go to Sony's site (or get out that damned CD that came with the camcorder) to install it. 8)
