Da Mario's  (Via della Vite 55-56) near the spanish steps is awesome. Dar Poeta (Vicolo del Bologna 45/46) in the Trastevere is good too.

We had a great meal at a restaurant named Canova (Piazza del Popolo), but my favorite restaurant was Caffe Barroco (not sure of spelling) in the Piazza Navona. And a wonderful gelateria is also in the Piazza Navona.

We dined at Re Cafe with some Roman friends, and can highly recommend this restaurant's fresh and delicious Neapolitan food.  The restaurant is in Piazza Augusto Imperatore, just off Via Tomacelli.  They have a menu in English (which you should get just for the giggle factor) but try to make your way through the Italian menu with your dictionary or helpful Italian-speaking friends!!
