I need to practice at home, im not going to play at gigs and concerts

i just need to have a mic and a guitar in the house to sing and play.

Can i buy a guitar beginner kit that comes with a amp and plug in a mic to it?

I know you cant do it at the same time but can i take out the guitar then put in the microphone?

  1. It depends on your amplifier.  If it has a "mic in" then you are fine because that channel will have what is called a pre-amp which bumps the signal up to line level which is the level that the guitar at is already.  If not, then you probably won't get any sound out but it won't damage anything.  You should also be able to use the guitar channel and the mic channel independently from each other.

  2. u can if the mic has a regular input on it but u probably know some have the other type i'm not sure what it is called but plugging a mic into a guitar amplifier can damage it so be careful if u do.

  3. yeah u can

  4. Unless the amp has a microphone jack input on it, then you'll need a direct box to go between the mic and the amp.  If you have two inputs on the amp you can do the mic and the guitar at the same time, but BE CAREFUL or you could overload it.  I'd recommend just doing one at a time.

    Good luck.
