With a wireless access point, can I plug this directly to the Internet or does it have to go through a router or hub?

  1. The wireless router has to connect via a cable to the cable or DSL modem unless you are buying a cable or DSL gateway that has both the router and modem function.

All wireless routers have wired ports.  You do not even have to go wireless.  Check this out: http://www.cnet.com/4520-7390_1-6274537-...

  2. Yes you can plug a WAP directly into your DSL or Cable modem.
