I have an old desk phone that I want to give to my 2 year old niece. I was wondering if there was any way of connecting it to a 9V battery (or some other battery) so the keys made a noise when you pressed them. Ideally I'd like to get a dialtone as well, but that would probably require a lot more circuitry and wiring.

  1. Wow, interesting question. I'll try to answer. Telephone lines run at 48Volts. I dont think a 9V will provide enough power. Additionally, I wouldnt feel safe applying power directly to a phone that a child will be playing with. I think the safest bet (and least time consuming) would be to buy her a play phone (toy). Good luck.
