Can I print documents direct from a flash drive.?

I am thinking of buying a Samsung colour laser printer which has a USB port on the front for printing from flash drives. I know on an inkjet with a memory card slot you can only print image files (little use to me), but I want to print essays direct from a USB pen. Can I do this, or is there a workaround to make this possible?

  1. No, only images or pdf files.  Says so in the doc.

If you think about it, it makes sense.  In order to "read" anything, you need a software application.  Your printer doesn't have it.  The only capability it has is to recognize images and pdfs.  It can also create these types of images when scanning and store directly on the usb drive.

  2. thanks for the answer

  3. Not because the printer wouldn't understand it. You will have to transfer them to a word processor and print from there.

  4. Not likely since the printer would have to understand the application that you used to create the document.  There might be a chance it could print pdf files, but I doubt word docs or anything other than text files.  You might have to read the manual.........arrgh, not that anything but reading the manual.
