Depends upon where you purchase from.  Some stores are too lazy to make the proper checks and will sell you anything just to get your money.  But if you want to know if it's right to buy one?  No.  You need to get the warrant taken care of.  It is haunting you.  Just get a lawyer and have it done with.

No licensed gun dealer knowing you have an outstanding warrant will sell you a firearm. However, the gun dealer would have to do a warrant check on you, which he cannot, so I guess you could get away with it.
