  1. Yes, you can without any major rubbing, because i have a 2000 Jeep Wrangler, and before i put a lift kit and 33" tires and new beadlocks, i had 31" on the stock rims. With 31" there isnt that much of a power loss, but now that I have 33", i think i am going to have to install a performance chip(i too have a 4 banger)31's looked good, and never scrubbed on the road, but whenever i took a realy hard turn, you could hear a little scrubing, but let off a little, and the scrubbing of the tire went away. That is because the backspacing of the stock rims are not large enough to keep the tires from scrubbing. For less than $100 you can get wheel spacers to clear the scrubbing all together.

  2. 31s will fit nicely on a TJ, they were a factory optional tire size at the time.

    Happy Trails!

  3. 31's will fit just fine under a TJ suspension, no rubbing.

  4. Yes they will fit, just installed 31X10.50X15 Suoer Swmper SSR tires on my 2001 Wrangler and love them. They ride great and no noise,I highly recommend them. The only bad thing is with they will rob the engine of a lot of power unless you change gears.

  5. Short answer is yes, they'll fit. And yes, they may rub, but a lot depends on the wheels you use and what backspacing you have on them. You may get some rubbing on hard bumps and dips but nothing major.

You might consider a budget boost: coil spring spacers that will give you about 2-3/4"s of lift, plenty for 31's. Looks good, easy to install and is very affordable, >$100, and for street driving you can get away with the stock shocks.

  6. Yep, they will fit.  It will look better with a small lift but it will work.
