  1. NO!!! NO NO NO! First off, hamsters can not be intermixed between species, they are solitary animals and can get VERY aggressive and kill eachother. Even hamsters of the same species will kill eachother. Hamsters are solitary in the wild, and they do not like other hamsters.

Now, robo dwarfs are pretty nice as far as hamsters go, but russian hamsters are VERY mean! My first day working with them I had 3 dangling off my arm by their teeth. I've seen countless russians kill eachother over something so little such as food or a run on their wheel. You put a robo in with a russian and he will be dead. Sorry

Unless they come from the same litter or are raised together, hamsters should never be put together. So if you've had a female russian for six months, you should never put another russian with her, even if it is another female that is the same age.

To the posters that say yes you can, they obviously don't know much about the solitary nature of hamsters

EDIT: Hamsters only live about 2 years, so 4 months is almost 1/4 of their life. 20 yrs old is about 1/4 of our human life span, so you have to figure they are young adults in the hamster world. Anything over a couple months really is too old.

As for petsmart, the sign means they go well with other RUSSIAN hamsters, and even then, only by a little. Dwarf hamsters tend to be calmer then their larger cousins (long haired hamsters, teddy bear hamsters, etc...), and don't get as aggressive, but I've always noticed russians can get pretty mean. I would keep your little girl alone. There is a HUGE chance she will kill any new intruder. Petsmart was the first petstore I ever worked in.

  2. You can NEVER put  2 dwarf hamsters together if they were not born in the same litter and together from day one.

  3. Yes it will be fine.

Watch them for the first few days though to make sure they get on.
