  1. well there are a couple of issues.  The act it self is not illegal

The people likely to respond to those adds will want money and essentially sell their child and that is illegal  on both of you.   Secondly  you are likely to be scammed there was this 20/20 report of parents looking to adopt on line and  this mom scamming several families. They bought her stuff  (not money) but like paid rent etc which is legal in private adoption and the woman does have a right to change her mind but this woman was just taking money from several families and that is illegal. Also she had no  intention of giving up the child

Your best bet is to  go through the established correct channels

  2. Please clarify: do you want to give up a child for adoption, or are you looking to adopt a child?

  3. I don't necessarily think it is illegal, I see ads like this in our local paper every day. But, I think it is extremely low class and tacky.

    If all else fails, you can try the classic approach of asking a pregnant woman for her baby...Some people even make these really neat business cards to leave with pregnant women. {Please note sarcasm!}

If you are serious please research agencies or try being a foster parent.

  4. And yet so many on here just don't understand why we adopted internationally instead of doing a domestic adoption!

I refuse to advertise myself or to try and sell myself as being the best candidate to an expectant mother.

  5. You don't need to advertise to offer a home to a child who needs one - there are in excess of 140,000 waiting children

What you are proposing is absolutely illegal here in the UK but in the US - I guess anything goes.  Legal or not - it doesn't make the advertising and marketing of human flesh palatable IMHO

  6. You mean like pimping yourself to "birth mothers"?

    That's gross.

    Really, really tacky and disgusting.

  7. It is protected under the 1st amendment (FREEDOM OF SPEECH), however, be careful, and use an unlisted phone number or something, because you coud get some really bad hate calls.  Years ago, you could place an ad in the newspaper, and now, most newspapers won't let you do that, and if you are allowed, you'd have to have an attorney write you a letter for the newspaper in order to adopt.  It all works towards going to agencies, where it works just for the rich because of all their very high priced fees.  My private adoption costs less than $1000.00, yet agencies want to charge $25000+????  And what gets me here, is that they are allowed to advertise because they are an agency!

  8. holy god, yes....buying a child is illegal.  advertising to do it is illegal.

you sound as bad as a child molester patrolling for little children.

  9. Well you can't do it on Y!A.  It's against the TOS.

    You have been reported.

  10. Dear Hello Sa,

If you are looking for a child who needs a home, you do not need to run an ad.  (Those are incredibly tacky anyways.)  You can just contact the department in your state to get started.  That's where the children are who currently need homes.  There are over 140,000 waiting in the U.S. now.  After you pass your homestudy, there is no wait for them to join you, and the cost is minimal to none.  If you edit to add your state, I can get that information for you.

If you are looking to place a child for adoption, I would urge you to consider all other options first.  There is lots of help available if you need additional resources.  There may be other family members in your family or in the family of the baby's father who would be interested in raising the child if you absolutely cannot.  That would be in the child's best interest to maintain a connection.  In any case, I would not recommend putting up ads because you never know what kind of people might want to take a child.  Usually they are people who could not pass an approved homestudy to adopt legitimately.  As you suggested, it is probably not legal to put up ads to do so.  After all, we are talking about human beings here, not pets or inanimate objects.

Thanks for asking.  Do edit so we can offer you more specific help.  Good luck,

  11. Don't adopt if you even need to ask that question.

  12. It is illegal in my state to solicit or advertise for a baby to adopt in any way, shape or form.

So the answer is no, you cannot advertise anywhere in the US.

  13. Hi.

Advertising for a child, in my opinion, is not only extremely tacky and shows questionable ethics, but also makes you a target for con artists and can end up not only losing your money but also breaking your heart.

If you insist upon doing so, you will need to check the local laws for where you wish to advertise. Some states do not allow any type of advertising for private adoption and others have no laws about it at all.

I would also ask you to please think about how you will tell a child you received them through an ad. How will this make your potential child feel? How would it make you feel?

  14. There are no laws against making yourself look like a selfish, entitled, unethical idiot who wants kids no matter what's best for them.  So yeah, sure, go for it.
