My son's about to start full-day kindergarten, and is a picky eater. I'm wondering about putting cold, cooked chicken in his lunch. Will an ice pack keep it cold enough?

  1. I am in Sydney (Australia) and take my left over chicken in my lunch with my salad most days - even in Summer.  I don't always use a freezer block and I have never found my food gets too hot or spoiled...  I have never been sick so it should be fine if you use a freezer brick.

  2. An ice pack should keep it cold enough. Place the chicken right next to the ice pack, and if you are worried about it sliding around, then get a rubber band and attach the bag/tupperware of chicken to the ice pack.

    It should be fine!

  3. Yes it will be safe as long as it is properly cooked.

The problem I have had is that by the time lunchtime comes around the chicken is dry and stringy.
