Can I put drop handlebars on my Trek 7.2 Fx?

I have a 2008 Trek 7.2 FX, but the mountain style handlebars that come with it aren't great for road biking. Can I replace them with drop bars, or is the geometry off?

the fx series DOES NOT have a mountain bike frame and it IS a road bike, look ant there website its under ROADBIKE..........im tired of all this s****. bike store BS about what makes a bike a real bike, if it was up to the private dealers every bike would cost 3000 bucks.i own a 7.2 fx and i ride everyday and in charity marathons, i compete with the carbon guys and the " pure road bike " guys.   its all about how good of a rider your are not how much you spent on a bike.   remember you can spend 1000 more on a bike just to save 6 pounds, or you can lose 6 pounds off your a*s think about it
