Can I put laminatied floor in my kitchen. I mean the one that looks like wood, not the one that looks like tiles.

Is there any differece between tiles looking Laminated floor and wood looking laminated floor?. I like to put wood looking floor in my kitchen to mach my living room floor. I have seen people install tile looking Lam floor in the kitchen, but I want to do the wood looking one. Can I put the wood looking Laminated floor in the kitchen?

Please advise. will pick the best answer later

  1. Sure, why not?

Personally, I don't care for the look of laminated flooring.  If I were doing my kitchen over, I'd go with real tile.  But there's no reason a laminated floor wouldn't work, if that's your preference.  It wears well, is resistant to spills, and shouldn't cause any problems at all.

  2. Hi, Yes you can put laminated flooring that looks like wood in your kitchen. Laminate is less expensive than hardwood. Just like the real hardwood standing water is not good for your laminate floor so spills need to be wiped up right away. In a survey of real estate agents they said that homes with hardwood sold for more and faster. I think it is a matter of personal preference as to what you use. I think any tasteful quality product helps the resale of your home. I personally have hardwood in my kitchen and love it.  Hardwood you do need to wipe up spills right away and should have an area rug by your sink. I have had my hardwood for over 12 years and it still looks great. Hope this helps.

  3. yeah, you can put laminated floor in your kitchen, but you must be careful about getting it wet and staying that way. Mop up any spills immediately-the same you would do with water on your floors in the living room.

  4. yes

  5. yea but dont get the shiny one...it looks real cheapy looking

  6. Yes you can. That's what it was designed for. The advantages to the Laminate is that its easy to maintain, easy to clean up, and inexpensive to replace a board if it gets damaged. It has the look and feel of wood and most people would have a hard time distinguishing the difference.

    Good luck!!

  7. A house I used to rent a few years ago had laminate that actually looked like hardwood from far away in the kitchen, but me and my fiance bought a house last year and remodeled it and we put in the "snap-down" hardwood in our kitchen and it looks great. It's a lot more affordable than real hardwood, and it's extremely easy to install. The pieces simply just snap together...it's not actually "real" wood, but has the same affect and pretty much looks the same. Personally, I like the looks of the snap-down wood versus the laminate wood.

But I will say, if you spill water or any kind of liquid on the snap-down flooring, you need to clean it up asap because it will start to "bubble" up, we've had problems with this in some areas. Hope I helped...good luck!
