I am 17 years old(ill be 18 next year) living in the state of Georgia and my father lives in Tennessee. He has never sent me any money of anything and right now we are struggling like pretty much the rest of the world and need money. So, can I put my dad on child support even though he lives in a different state? Also, is it true that he will have to pay all the child support he's missed out on since I was born?

  1. your mother can file the appropriate paperwork through child support enforcement and they can try to collect.  Yes he will pay all the child support for the last 18 years, but it won't be one lump sum, and if he is raising other children he can ask for them to cut the support order down.

  2. I don't think you can do this but your mother can get state assistance with an attorney or hire one and get a child suport order in place and yes he can be ordered to pay back child support owed.  It doesn't mean you will get it in one lump some but they will factor that in along with his monthly obligation- when you turn 18 if you plan on going to college makes sure you also get placed in the order that he will continue to pay child support til the age of (states differed with the cut off) while persuing a higher education.  If he does not pay after the order is in place then they can garnish wages- tax returns - revoke his dirvers license.

  3. Doll, let this go and walk. I am in Law there are arrearages, which means back support, that's 17 years, know you may get money here and there but if your mother never formerly arranged any financial transactions this will complicate dof ryou and timely, it may be granted by a judge or probate mediator due to the time events.

Call an attorney bottom line, there are no right or wrong answers you can seek out on this blog talk to a professional they know the law and what is best. I am in Law and I frankly am telling you, if you visited your father ineracted with him got money here and there then your possess a strong unlikelihood of financial again, now you have other options to many to list but an attorney within your state can explain, if you suffer financially call your bar association and they will help you.  They Handle legal aid
