  1. sure but make sure not to put it in the dryer

  2. I have washed non leather tack in the washer on cold air dry.  But I always use a mesh bag, and buckle buckles, etc.  If you have access to a front load washer that works best.

  3. I wash my flysheets and other blankets in my home washing machine without problems.

First, check and see if there are any labels for washing, and/or for material contents to help you know what to do.  You are always best to err on the side of caution, so if it isn't labeled I'd wash in cool water.  Don't use bleach as it can weaken the fibers.  If you have leg straps that you can remove, take them off before putting the sheet in the machine.  Do up buckles if possible, and if there's any velcro, fold it against each other.  Make sure you don't put anything else in with the sheet if you don't want it to pick up a manure smell!

I'm going to guess your flysheet has alot of cotton, so I would avoid excess heat and I would not attempt to dry it at all.  I never dry any of my blankets, instead I hang them on a line or on my kid's swing set (works great for heavy items to dry!)  Drying can shrink cotton, plus it can remove any waterproofing that your blankets may have (so can excess heat or washing too much, so don't wash your blankets constantly!)

Now, onto nylon halters.  Yes, they will wash in the machine, but they have so much hardware they bang and crash like mad, which is not only irritating but hard on your machine.  Instead I fill a bucket with warm soapy water and do my halters and cinches there.  Swish well by hand, if they are really nasty you may need to leave them soak for a while.  Once again, do not use bleach.  I once put a tiny bit of bleach in some water because I had a fungus in one horse's mane and I didn't want to spread it.  It faded my nice halters something awful, so I won't be in a rush to do that again unless absolutely necessary!  You may need to use a brush to rub the halters if they really have alot of ground in mud.  Then rinse really well, I would use two warm water washes, and put them out on the swing set to drip dry!

One more tip - if you have heavy winter blankets that need washing, often its easier to hang them outside and spray them with a car pressure washer, or even a garden hose with a spray nossle.  Big old blankets are hard on your machine and stinky to boot, you can help them alot outside without all the hassles.  They won't be perfect, but they'll sure be alot better.  You might find hosing down your flysheets is all you need at times, too.

  4. Yes you can but you might want to put something over the buckles etc ( an odd sock held on with elastic bands works quite well) Headcollars can go in as well but if they have metal rings they tend to make a lot of noise and knock on the door glass ( if you have that type of washer) - again you can put socks on buckles but nothing really works on the rings.

  5. yep just make sure you buckle all of the buckles on the sheet. sometimes they get caught if you don't and rip off :(

  6. You can put all of that in, just don't dry it! I would suggest hanging it on a line to dry. Hope this helps!! :)
