I worry about the real hot days of summer making the freezer work harder and burning up the motor.

  1. Refridgerators and freezers work at their optimal performance when the temprature is 92 F the colder or hotter it gets from this set point requires it to work harder!! It may have a harder time cooling the freezer when it is like 34 outside than any other time.It will work but my main concern would be the amount of humidity outside, I would'nt do this in places with high humidity it can cause rusting of the condenser fan motor and ice buildup on the coil

  2. You can do that, a lot of people do.  It will work harder in the summer and may reduce the life a small percentage, but will work much less in the winter (assuming you live in an area that gets cool in the winter).  You probably will see some rust occurring due to dampness.  Unless you are fanning the door, it probably won't make much difference, remember, freezers have been around a long time and until the mid seventies, most houses didn't have air conditioning so the freezer had to work hard even inside the house and they did okay.

  3. Keep it out of the sun and rain, keep the coils clean, and it should do fine.

  4. You can and I have.Don't worry about the compressor because the outside of the freezer (and door) will rust beyond use long before that goes bad
