Can I put my g/f on my car insurance?

So my g/f is 24 and is just about ready to get her license and start driving. We are trying to figure out insurance for her and I don't know what I can and can't do. We live together but are not married. Is it possible to add her on my insurance so that she will be able to get a license etc?

Also we live in Nc if that matters but does anyone know what our options may be?

Since she lives in your household you will need to add her to your insurance when she gets her license.

An agent could answer this for free and give you the correct answer for you zip code and state laws that apply.  Just getting an answer on here does not constitute the truth in every state.  I would pick up a phone and call a local insurance agent.  Dont waste your time on YA for such an important question.  Seriously.

Yes.

You can put anyone on your insurance.

Makes it cheaper but there is more risk for you now. The more people on the policy the more chance of an accident.

Hi. I live in NC too. Yes, you can add your g/f to your insurance. I have been in the same situation. As long as she lives with you, she can be added. You are not required to be married to add someone to your policy. Technically ANYONE that lives with you and has a license/permit should be on your insurance. Good Luck to your g/f on getting her license.

P.S. You may want to get a few quotes from other car insurance providers (and yours) just to make sure it will be cheapest. You are under no obligation to purchase insurance when you call for a quote. My husband and I just recently switched companies (from Progressive to Nationwide) and we are saving over $60 per month!

If you live together and she will drive your car -it's a good idea to add her as a driver to your policy.
