Question:

Can I put my pool solar cover on whilst stabilizer is in the pool (and later, ph plus)?

I'm just getting my pool chemistry right and have some stabilizer in there; you're supposed to leave it 48 hrs before using the pool. I may add some ph plus afterwards too as it looks a little low.

Question is, can I put the pool cover on? Or will the chemicals 'eat' away at it? I've just started heating the pool (well, I have a slight problem with the heating, see my other post tonight!!!!) and I'd like not to loose all the heat....

Cheers

Ross

  1. Cover if you like - stabilizer is quite inert anyway. Solar and other covers can handle all pool chems.

  2. If you are a first time pool owner, hold off on the cover it will cloak the pool making problem spotting difficult.  If heating it well the cover will keep the wind off and help keep the heat in.  If an unsecured cover be careful of animals who swim but get enveloped on covers and drown.  Same thing for humans.

Do you have an above ground vinyl liner pool?

    You're welcome!!

  3. The only time you dont want to have your cover on is when shocking. Even heavy duty automatic covers can succumb to very high chlorine levels. Besides that you should be fine.
