Question:

Can I put regular felt on a pool table? You know, felt from like Walmart?

  1. Thanks for the lead-in Johnny.  Like he says, cloth and felt are not the same thing.  Felt is a fabric made from compressed fibers and has never been used on any kind of billiards table.  Cloth is made from woven fiber, usually worsted wool.  Top of the line cloth such as Simonis 860 or Brunswick Centennial tend to last longer, roll truer, resist pilling, resist burn marks, tend to form fewer gullies and divots, and are more liquid and stain resistant.  If you didn't buy your table from Walmart (hopefully) please don't try to cover it with something from Walmart.  M.D.-BCA Instructor/Referee.


  2. no the balls will not roll near well enough and it would be pointless to play. go to any sporting good store they should have some it comes in rolls

  3. Sometimes something seems simple but is really not. I would not do this myself. Get soemone who has experience or pay someone to do it.

  7. I don't know but I do know that real felt is made of wool and Walmart only sells the imitation felt.

  9. no, the pool table felt has a chemical on it that can weight shift sometimes, also they r 2 diff. times of felt
