Can I put soda in a Nalgene water bottle?

Is it ok to put soda in those unbreakable water bottles that most people have. You know, the one with the wide lid that screws off. I am not sure if putting soda in it will stain or damage it.

I'm sure it is fine since many people use things such as iced tea in water bottles.

However I'm not sure if the water bottle will keep the soda carbonation.
