Can I put the shock treatment and a chlorine tablet in my pool?

ok so I have a 4 foot deep pool, 15 feet across and I'm having trouble keeping the water clear, it's been cloudy for awhile now, I just changed the filter this morning and I have a chlorine tablet in the little skimmer basket. I was wondering if it would do any harm to add this bag of chemicals called shock it from walmart. If not how long will it take the chlorine tablet to clean up the water and make it clear again? I put the chlorine tablet in last night and its still really cloudy. Thanks in advance!

One chlorine tab probably wont clear the water up. It is smarter to shock the pool with the granular chlorine in the shock it. It is perfectly find to use the shock it and have a tab  in the skimmer. I would add another tab just to keep the chlorine high until the water clears. Could take a couple days. Leave your equipment running until it clears.
