Can I put vinyl in the washer?

My husband and I are restoring an old boat and it has a vinyl shade that goes part way over it and it is disgusting. Can I put it in the washer and just air dry it?

yeah.  gentle cycle.  save money.

take it out in the yard, spray it with your cleaner of choice, let it sit or use a cloth or brush to wipe the yuck off, and then spray off with the hose.  let it air dry over a clothesline or some yard chairs.

vinyl will come out realllllllly wrinkly if you put it in the washer.  and it is very difficult to get it unwrinkled.

hand wash it jsut to be safe.

best best is just soak it in a mild bleach, but if you really want to you can wash it (I do that with my shower curitans and they come out fine).  As far as vinyal shades though, you seem to be the wife.. the best bet is new ones (less head ache, and you get to shop :D)
