Question:

Can I "temporarily" re-connect my cable tv sevice myself?

I am moving from my apartment in about a week and I disconnected my cable service early because I thought the cable company would take a few days to turn it off. But to my dismay they turned it off the same day. Is there any way to "Temporarily" reconnect it? I checked the box on the side of the building but the cable seems to be connected. What methods do cable companies use to disconnect the basic analog service?

  1. They pull a plug at their side of the cable line. Just use rabbit ears to pick up local channels.

  2. If you unscrew the cable from the cable box and s***w it straight into your TV where the co-ax cable is presently to the box, you might find that you can still get basic cable so at least you can watch TV.

If you bypass the box, you will find out for real if the analog service is gone.  If you do that, and you find that  basic cable is gone, and you were a customer in good standing when you disconnected the cable, you might be able to call them and have them send a signal to the box for a few more days.

    Update:

Then there's nothing you can do on your end.  Call them and ask them to reconnect it for a few more days.  Incidentally, if you're moving someplace in their local service area, what you should have done is arrange to transfer service, not disconnect it, but that may not be relevant to your situation.
