Can I receive financial aid if I have a prison record?

I finished my sentence in prison 12 years ago,and I have been in college for two years with two certificates completed.

  1. You are eligible for student loans and other financial aid. Visit with the Financial Aid Advisor to find out what you need to do. You'll need to complete the FAFSAA right away, decide on a lender, etc. Good luck!


  2. Yes, my ex felon got plenty of student loans, and he didn't ever pay them back before he asked for the next one.

  4. It shouldn't factor in.  Having a prison record has nothing to do with obtaining a college degree.  I don't believe the application asks if you have a record.

  5. You are eligible for financial aid IF you did not have a felony drug conviction.  If you had a felony drug conviction, you may still be eligible for financial aid but you will have to jump through a few hoops with the financial aid office.  They will tell you what you need to do.

    Be sure to file the FAFSA at www.fafsa.ed.gov.
