I have a bucket of joint compound that I haven't used in a few months. It's not hard but it is dry looking, probably settled. Can I add water, mix and bring it back to a useful state? Will this weaken it in any way?

Thanks

  1. yes add water small amount at a time.....when we open a new bucket we add about 1 full cup of water to it to make it smooth for the walls....as long as its not lumpy ur ok.....

  2. yes it will weaken it, just throw it away and buy a 1 gallon bucket of  compound, it's only like five bucks, make sure when you are done using it flatten down any mud left in the bucket, and hammer the lid down tighlt, keep it in a cool, dark, dry place, it should last for quite awhile.
