I am looking for a box to buy that can record TV programs digitally. But I do not want to pay for monthly service in order to do that. Is there a way for that? And if yes, what is the best bargain?

  1. I have hooked up my VCR through scart and RF to my Sky box and directly to the TV, (which has integral digi-decoder).

I have 3 Scart connections on my VCR and 2 on the TV so no problems, it just means trying to sort out which AV to record on through the VCR, which I have found out through trial and error.

Eventually I want a DVD recorder with with a HDD, this will I hope directly replace the VCR - as far as the HD connections are concerned that is another matter!

  2. i dont know of any but right now i have direct tv with a DVR to record programs and it works really well. its pretty cheap too so if i were you i would check it out
