Can I record movies off Dish network with a DVD recorder?

Question

Hey all, Im totaly new to the concept of a DVD recorder. I have Dish network set up with a Dish Network DVR.

I want to buy a budget DVD recorder from Walmart to move movies from the DVR onto DVD's.

I am just unclear if this will work, I would like to copy (standard deffinition movies )

for instance. I will record a movie like Beerfest off HBO on my DVR. then I would like to copy that to DVD to add to my personal collection and then delete the DVR version from the DVR to make room for other stuff.

I am worried that there may be some kind of built in copy protection in the signal that will not let me copy, like if you try to copy a dvd to a vcr, it just comes out scrambled.

So basicly just want to know if I will be able to record onto DVD from DVR with a standard budget off the shelf DVD recorder?
