Can I recycle lined aluminum cans?

I usually recycle everything I am allowed to, but noticed some of the cans that vegatables come in, and some cans that dog food come in, that the inside of the can is lined with some sort of white, protective coating, not just bare metal, and I can't find info on "lined cans" or recycling "coated cans". Any info would help! Thanx!!

  1. yes. depending on where you live they should have a place where you can take them and get money for them.

we used to have one here i dont know if we still do or not

  2. u can recycle the lined aluminum cans. just try take the white part out if it doesnt then i wont recylce it your choice

  3. These cans should be okay to recycle.  That protective coating might be to protect the flavor/longevity of the food (i'm guessing).  Bi-metal cans are recycleable as well.. I usually just throw everything into the same bin.

Hope that helps :)  happy recycling!

  4. Yes.  The liner is to protect the food from reacting with aluminum or tin.

  5. Are you sure that these are aluminum cans?  I have not seen any aluminum cans that canned food or dog food would come in.  Usually these cans are made out of steel.  Remember to do the magnet test.  All aluminum is recyclable coated or not.  The coating will melt off when remelted.
