Recently we switch to a local wireless network. We had it for about three days, then I returned it. Not Happy!

My computer (1 or 2) now has been infected with something. It got pass MacAfee. After I updated MacAfee it found two infected files and I deleted them. However I still get random pop ups...even as I type this.

My pop up blocker is set at highest, blocking everything and no exceptions.

I'm getting a CTF loader error too.

How do I fix this?

Should I reinstall windows XP (me: Gateway GT5056, AMD 64 x2 Dual, Core 3800+, 2 Ghz, 1.12 GB of Ram, running XP)

If so can I reinstall on my C: drive and leave my E: drive alone. It holds my music, games, and programs I use and run. The C drive is dedicated for windows only. The infected files were on (still are?) the root drive, C:

  1. Yes you can reinstall windows when asked what you want to do press the key to delete the partition C;\ then you will be asked to format choose c:\ and do a quick format in NTFS  then install in the normal way

  2. Yes, you can. Your E: will stay unchanged. But, virus could infect your executable or other files on e: drive too, and when you will reinstall windows, it will back. make sure you havent executable (i mean infected) files on your data drive.

  3. Sure.

I would loose the Macdaffy av and use AVG anti virus free.

  4. ya you can do that. In the setup disc, when windows is installing it will ask for a directory to be formatted and installed on. there specify c: alone and it will not affect the d: or e:
