Ok, when i buy a motorbike at a dealership, does it need to be delivered to my house or can i ride it home? well, cant ride the bike unless it is registered and insured right? so, can i complete the registration and insurance process right at the dealership, and then ride home legally with a license plate on the bike? Or can I ride home without registering and then register it later by going to the DMV? Or do I need to keep the bike virgin until I register it at the DMV?

  1. A reputable dealership will take care of the initial registration and titling of the bike. They will not allow you to drive off the lot unless you have proof of insurance for the new vehicle (should be quick enough to call your insurance agent, answer some questions, and get the card faxed to the dealer), plus the proper classification on your license. If they do let you drive off without the proper license and insurance, you ARE breaking 2 laws, and the dealer is not responsible.

  2. At most dealerships, they'll fill out all the DMV paperwork there (thus the tax, title and license fees).  The only thing that you'll need to do before you ride on it is to make sure it's covered by your insurance.  If you don't do this, and you wreck the bike, you'll still be responsible for the payments until the debt is settled.  If your dealership doesn't do the DMV paperwork, then maybe keep the bike there, and go to the DMV and get the paperwork done.  You don't want to ride the bike without your license, not worth the tickets should you get pulled over by the police.  Best of luck to you........
