  1. You can uninstall Norton.

    Start -> program -> Norton > uninstall

    Then you can install AVG.

Such uninstallation should be done in off-line.

If you want to update the Norton license, your Norton would display a message and guide you through. However, the best way is to buy a pack from software store. The CD-rom would be useful for system recovery.

  2. I replaced my expired Norton with AVG 8 Free. The computer runs much quicker and is just as secure. Go for it

After you uninstalled Norton, you need good replacements.

    Anit virus

    Anti spyware

    Firewall

You can of course install avg, avast, antivir

I however would suggest the following programs

    http://antivirus.comodo.com/

    http://www.comodo.com/boclean/boclean.ht...

    http://www.personalfirewall.comodo.com/

As extra protection Threatfire Anti Virus

Threatfire is an anti virus program you can use together with any other ant virus on the same computer

    Anti Spyware

    Spyware Terminator

  4. You can remove Norton by going into control panel, add & remove programs and then remove all of the norton products. I don't remember which to take first but it will tell you that you can't remove this one because another is using it. Try each one till you find the right one to remove first then keep at it to get all the rest of them. After they are gone you can download AVG and Defender.

  5. If you remove Norton you need to use the specific tool from symantec for your version:
