Question:

Can I remove a stain from my driver seat my cutting it out and putting a seat cover over the entire thing?

I was out of town for a few days and when I came home I found that someone had "gotten sick" on my drivers seat. It is too late to remove the mess completely. The cheapest thing I can think of is to cut out the damaged part of the interior and buy I cheap seat cover. Will that wok or will the padding and everything inside the seat need additional attention?

  1. Depending on the car you should be able to find a cheap replacement seat from a junkyard which will match perfectly and get rid of the stain.  I wouldn't recommend cutting and trying to recover it as it is more of a pain than needed.

  2. it would be cheaper if you got an upholstery cleaner to clean the seat, or bring it to a detail shop and have them clean the seats.

  3. Do everything to avoid cutting your seat. Once you expose the foam the foam will crumble and you will end up sitting on metal. Take it to a auto detailer or upholstery cleaner they can steam clean the seat, they have enzyme solutions that can loosen any organic stain. In the end if you are going to put a seat cover on it there should be no need to cut the seat anyway.
