Can I remove an old water mark from a maple coffee table without having to refinish it?

  1. Truly it depends on the type of finish your table has.  See, if the finish is a quality varithane or polyurethane, then you simple need a bottle of car scratch polishing compound(preferably the kind for fine scratches) and rub the spot down good with a clean cloth.  If it's just a wood stain and a wax finish over that, then you're toasted.  You WILL  have to have that re-finished unfortunately if that's the case.


  2. Buy a can of mixed nuts, and try rubbing a walnut on the water mark.

    Try the other types of nuts in the can if the walnut doesn't work.

    If none of them work, mix yourself a drink, sit down with the can of nuts, turn on the TV, and forget about it until tomorrow.

  4. Try rubbing it with some vegetable oil on a soft cloth.  You may have to try this a couple of times, but it worked for me.  Good luck!
