Can I rent out my apartment for the 2010 olympics if I'm just a renter myself?

I have a huge place near stanley park with a 800 square feet deck. I could make a killing renting it out for the games. But will I (and my whomever rents my place from me) get thrown out if we're caught?

Thanks

  1. if it was me i would take advantage and rent it. Say its friends staying over. just supervise well. If he does catch you give him some cash,.. he will be ok then.

  2. They could since you are not able to rent it out without going through the land lord.

The landlord has a right to the money since they own the property.  You could offer to split it with him which he maybe allow a sub leaser as long as they get a cut.

  3. Read your rental agreement. I am sure there is something prohibiting subletting.

You'll make a killing but you'll need to find another place to live.

  4. There is nothing wrong with wanting to earn extra money. If you really need extra cash and only have your apartment as a possible source of income, you can share your home. There are several home-sharing organizations out there that can help you out. This, being a legit program, assures that you don't have to worry about getting busted. Home-sharing has become a trend for those who needs extra money to pay for monthly payables.

Check out this article, you can learn more about home-sharing here, and where you can turn to for assistance:

Hope I was able to help!
