Can I replace my Verizon modem to see if it eliminates the problem?

of the internet disconnecting on its own. And would a westell 6100 cause my problems. Is there a better one? Would it also cause static on the phone? Thank you

Static on the phone - assuming you put one of the filters on the phone - is caused by a bad phone or a bad phone line.

But intermittent disconnects and static on the phone sound like you never put a filter on the phone, or the filter is defective.

If it really is a defective modem, Verizon will replace it free.
