Can I reschedule a cruise?

I had planned to take a 4 night baja/mexico cruise on Sept. 3. Now something has come up that won't make it possible to travel. Is it possible to reschedule the cruise for the following week? What are my options? I went through a travel agency and I haven't purchased the insurance.

  1. Yes you can certainly reschedule - with no fee involved.

Just call your travel agency and have them book you on the next sail date.  As long as you are not canceling there will be no fee involved.

  2. well it depends on what travel agency you went through, and what their cancellation policy is.  I just had the same problem as you and even with travelers insurence, i am not able to use my $500 deposit for anything....its just gone. they only thing i can do is use 75% of the $500 for on cruise credit.  good luck

  3. first I would suggest you call your travel agent and see what they say. Meanwhile go to Cruisecritic.com, they have message boards there and they have tons of Information. YOu can also try the website of the company you are traveling through.

  4. call your travel agent. explain the situation. Buying Insurance sometimes helps because you can get more of your money back from the cruiseline.

Each cruiseline has their own cancellation policies, I would do something about it sooner rather than waiting any more. Good luck.a

  5. Most cruise lines have a cancellation policy that is based on the time before the cruise.  You can cancel, but the closer to the cruise the more penalty you pay.  You can cancel any time 70 to 90 days or more before the cruise with no penalty.  Then within 70 to 90 days they will start charging fees equal to a portion of the cruise fare.  At this point you are about 14 days before the cruise and thus you may get no refund or at best a 50% refund.

Contact your travel agent immediately and be sure that he/she follows up with the cruise line immediately.

Now, if you have a medical or family emergency which requires you to miss your original date then you should have your travel agent (or better yet, call yourself, give your reservation number and ask first hand) check to see if they will allow you to transfer the fees paid to a different date.  Because you are so close to your sail date they may not, but if its an emergency and you explain it, they may agree to the change.
