  1. If the t.v is still under guarantee, it doesn't matter how much of the guarantee is left, they have to do something. Are you also saying that they cant fix it in 6 days (therefore out of guarantee) if you are then again it doesn't matter how long it takes to come back to you, as long as you took it back whilst under the guarantee.

If they refuse call the consumer and public protection office for advice.

  2. Yes. Its from the purchase date so its there problem if they cant fix it in that time. As long as you have taken it backwithin the 12 months the rest is up to them.

  3. If it's within its guarantee you should be able to return it :)

  4. I would yes, get a receipt that is dated when handing it over.

Phone trading standards they will tell you exactly what is what.

  5. Return it.

  6. By "return" do you mean make them fix it or get your money back? They have to fix it, because it broke during the guarantee period. But you can't return it for your money back. A guarantee is not a return privilege.

  7. yes but be quick

  8. As long as you have proof of purchase I can't see why not.

  9. Yes, as long as the date that you return it is still within the guarantee period, it's irrelevant that they may not actually be able to fix it within that time.

  10. Yes i should think so. The warranty isn't up for another 4 days, it's their fault that they can't repair it for 6, take it back to the shop and see what they say.

I'm pretty sure you can. Otherwise the warranty might aswell be 6 days shorter?

    Good luck.

  11. If its still under guarantee even by a few days then yes they should fix it no matter what, as long as you still have the reciept.

  12. 12 month garantee means exactly that... 12 months.!!

So as long as you have the reciept then you can return it as late as the day it expires... I dont the same thing with a hoover... they gave me a straight replacement instead of repair.. this should apply to you.

But if it needs repairing then atleast its free and you'll get it back working again!

  13. Your question has been visitied by the "thumbs down" idiot. All the answers given so far are right so whoever did this is obviously a pillock.

Under the Sale of Goods Act Argos are obliged to repair or replace the faulty goods if returned within the guarantee period. This applies even if the repair itself takes you beyond the original guarantee.

Not only that, but they are obliged by law to guarantee the repair itself. That means if the SAME FAULT (that's important) comes back within a reasonable time (at least 3 moths is normal) then they must repair or replace it without charge.

In fact, for something like a television set they would be obliged to offer you a cut price repair even if you returned it after the guarantee expires. See the link for more details.
